St. Richard's Episcopal Mission

Jekyll Island, Georgia

Our Church

Our church is not really ours -- it belongs to the Jekyll Island United Methodist Church. They have graciously granted we Episcopalians, as well as the Island Roman Catholics, the use of the sanctuary for our services.

It is a symbiotic relationship. It gives us a place of worship that we could not afford on our own and gives our hosts some income to help offset the costs of maintaining the facility.  We each have our own prayer books, hymnals and altar accoutrements that involve some rearranging between services.

In addition, over the years we have contributed to a number of items that have enhanced each of our services. The organ, for example, was donated by St. Richard's as was the Memorial Garden.  In 1984 we contributed the pews that expanded sanctuary seating to its present capacity.
