St. Richard's Episcopal Mission

Jekyll Island, Georgia

Outreach

In a sense, outreach is the essence of St. Richard's Mission.  That is, a small cadre of year-round, predominately retired residents augmented by a loyal group of annual winter regulars provide a traditional Episcopal worship opportunity for Jekyll Island's stream of tourists and seasonal visitors.

St. Richard's is unique among missions in its faithful support of the Diocese of Georgia and its outreach programs.

This small congregation has been generous in support of calls for aid in disaster relief of which Hurricane Katrina, the Southeast Asia Tsunami and the Americas, Georgia tornado are recent examples.

A group of volunteers from St. Richard's regularly takes a turn at Manna House in Brunswick preparing and serving a hot noon meal to 150 to 200 persons in need.

Beyond these, modest annual grants are made to local nondenominational ministries in addition to Manna House of which Habitat for Humanity, Amity House, Seamen's House and Sparrow's Nest are examples.
